The Cricut Explore Air 3 is the greatest Cricut machine for a novice on a budget. The Cricut Explore Air 3 is the most popular machine from Cricut, and for good reason!

This machine can cut different materials, including vinyl, iron-on, cardboard, and rough materials such as glitter paper, cork, and bonded fabric.

It’s not the fastest or quietest cutting machine, but it gets the job done and is ideal for beginners.

2. Can A Cricut Cut Felt, Fabric, And Leather?

Yes! You can cut felt, fabric, and leather using the Cricut machine.

First of all, you should have the Cricut Maker model and rotary blade to cut for the felt material.

The rotary blade is exclusive to the Cricut Maker and can not be used with the other Cricut machines.

Whether you know it or not, you can cut fabric materials with The Cricut Maker and The Cricut Explorer.

You have to use the knife blade to cut the wood material, like basswood, balsa wood, natural wood veneer, and strong chipboard.

4. Do You Need A Computer To Use A Cricut Machine?

To use Cricut’s design program and submit your design to the Cricut cutting machine, you’ll need a computer or a smartphone.

The Cricut Explore and Cricut Maker may be connected to a laptop or desktop computer through a USB cable or via Bluetooth wirelessly. The Cricut Joy connects to your computer through Bluetooth.

You may also submit a design to your Cricut machine from your smartphone using the Cricut Design Space app (available for iOS and Android).

For most projects, I like to utilize the desktop edition of Design Space. However, the software is useful for short, uncomplicated cuts.

5. Is The Cricut Machine Worth It?

You’ll enjoy using your Cricut if you enjoy making crafts using paper and vinyl. I believe you’ll be impressed with how fast and silently the Cricut machine can cut even the most complex patterns.

When I use the Cricut to cut out my projects, I’m always amazed by how professional they seem!

6. What Mat to Use for Paper and Cardstock?

The blue LightGrip cutting mat works best with most paper and cardstock types. The blue mat has a mild adhesive that does a good job of releasing the paper.

However, the green StandardGrip cutting mat or even the purple StrongGrip cutting mat work better with some of the heavier paper types.

The green mat’s adhesive is significantly stronger and works nicely with thicker materials like heavy glitter paper.

The purple mat, meanwhile, has the strongest adhesive, making it ideal for materials like poster board.

7. What Blades To Use For Paper And Cardstock?

The Fine Point blade or Premium Fine Point Blade can cut almost any form of paper or cardstock, including cardboard and poster board.

Crepe paper and tissue paper are two exceptions, both of which may be cut with the rotary blade or wavy blade.

After you pick the Base Material on the Make screen, Design Space will remind you to switch out the blade if you come across a material that needs a different blade.
